Inaugural WineShine Half Marathon to Debut in the Napa Valley Next Summer

The new wine-themed event will take place in mid-July along the Silverado Trail

NAPA, CA – The nonprofit Napa Valley Marathon, Inc., is thrilled to announce the launch of a new summer race in wine country, the WineShine Half Marathon & 3.9-Miler. The inaugural race, which starts and finishes at the Silverado Resort & Spa, will be held on July 16, 2022. Registration for this wine-themed event is slated to open on October 19th.

The half marathon course runs along the famed Silverado Trail, passing by sweeping vineyards, beautiful hillsides, and iconic wineries along the way. After the race, participants will gather on the grounds of the Silverado Resort to enjoy complimentary wine tasting from a sampling of local vintners, listen to live music, and celebrate their finish.

General registration for both the Half Marathon and the 3.9-Miler includes a technical tank or t-shirt from Recover Brands made from 100% recycled materials, a wine-stopper medal, and a commemorative wine glass for unlimited wine tastings at the post-race festival. Half Marathon entries also include a bottle of wine from our partner, Revelshine.

As this first-year event gains traction in the endurance space, event organizers are excited to announce Deena Kastor, Olympic medalist and American record holder in the marathon, will be in attendance.

“Along with the Napa Valley Marathon Board of Directors, we saw an opportunity to create a new event that really celebrates and supports everything the Napa Valley has to offer, from wine to culture and community,” said Michelle La Sala, WineShine Race Director and President of Blistering Pace Race Management, producer of the new event on behalf of Napa Valley Marathon, Inc.

The new summer races will support two causes, Napa Firewise, which works to reduce the risk and impacts of wildfires, and the Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation, which supports and promotes Napa Valley’s vineyard workers through education and professional development.

“Giving runners a fun, new experience while supporting important community partners within the valley to deepen our philanthropic mission gives our committee great purpose,” stated Jim Cotter, NVM Board President.

Participants are invited to register for the WineShine Half Marathon & 3.9-Miler beginning Tuesday, October 19th. For more information about the event and how to sign up, please visit wineshinehalfmarathon.org.
